Thomas D. Beisecker, Ph.D. President Thomas D. Beisecker, a Phi
Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Kansas, has a Ph.D. in Communication
Studies from the University of Wisconsin.
Since 1967 he has been a professor at the University of Kansas, where
he teaches legal communication, persuasion, negotiation, conflict resolution,
and social science research procedures. He has collaborated with the Kansas
Law School’s advanced litigation program, chaired the departments of
Communication Studies and Design, served as President of the University of
Kansas Faculty and University Senates, and currently directs the
Communication Studies advanced litigation program. A member of the American
Society of Trial Consultants since 1986, Dr. Beisecker served on its research
committee (1986-91) and board of directors (1988-91, 1996-2004); he was vice
president and president in 1989 and 1990. He is included in Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in Media and Communications. Through
Advocacy Research Institute, Inc., Dr. Beisecker consults with attorneys and
conducts jury research on case theory development, witness preparation, voir
dire strategy, jury selection, courtroom presentations, and post-trial
evaluation. He has testified as an expert witness in Kansas, Missouri,
Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Mississippi. Among his publications are “The role of the communication scholar as an expert
